PTA - Rice Dumplings Wrapping Day

Understanding one’s identity by embracing traditional culture and food is essential. The Dragon Boat Festival carries stories that convey the beauty of our history. On 23rd May, 2025, our PTA organized a rice dumpling wrapping activity for CMS students. We distributed 250 rice dumpling tokens to students who met the selection criteria, which included high- quality homework submissions, good manners, and excellent self-management under the 5s roles. We made 300 dumplings at the end of the activity. We all enjoyed this cultural activity a lot.

From April 27 to May 2 this year, P4 to P6 students embarked on a study exchange journey to Hainan, where they had a first-hand experience of the rich culture and rapid development of our nation.

The tour began at Hainan Weicheng Future School, where students worked together with their sister school peers to explore the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. By creating posters and sharing ideas, they demonstrated the sense of responsibility and global perspective of the new generation of Chinese youths.

In addition to academic exchange, students explored the mangrove nature reserve and tea plantations, gaining insights into Hainan's unique ecology and agricultural development. These experiences allowed them to appreciate China's ongoing efforts and achievements in ecological protection and green growth.

A highlight of the trip was the visit to the Wenchang Aerospace Supercomputing Center and the chance to witness the impressive Wenchang Space Launch Site up close. Students were deeply inspired by China's remarkable advancements in aerospace technology and felt immense pride in the nation's achievements as a space power.

Through this study tour, students not only gained a deeper understanding of Hainan and various regions of China, but also developed a stronger sense of national pride. They learned to appreciate the diversity and progress of our country and were inspired to contribute to the future development of China.

Students Venture into Shenzhen’s Green Frontier

On 30th April 2025, about 140 Primary 4-6 students from our school crossed the border for an eye-opening, one-day study tour to Shenzhen, China. Designed to deepen understanding of nature conservation and smart farming in the Greater Bay Area, the excursion blended ecology, technology and cultural exchange in equal measure.

The day began in the lush grounds of Fairy Lake Botanical Garden. Guided by local conservationists, students examined plant species and learned how Shenzhen balances rapid urban growth with biodiversity protection.

The group also visited an organic farming plantation on the city’s outskirts. Here, agronomists demonstrated IoT-controlled greenhouses, solar-powered irrigation and AI pest-monitoring drones. Pupils tried their hand at seeding plants, linking textbook science to real-world innovation.

Throughout the tour, students compared Hong Kong’s and Shenzhen’s environmental policies and discussed how regional cooperation can advance the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. They were especially inspired by the integration of advanced technology with traditional farming wisdom—proof that green development and modern living can go hand in hand.

The trip not only broadened horizons but also reinforced our mission to cultivate responsible global citizens.
