The Development of I.T. Education

 I.T. Education Development in CMS

Since the first 5-year I.T. Plan implemented by the government in 1998, CMS has strived very hard for the development in I.T. Education. Although the resources from the government are limited, the school put a great effort in deploying resources so that the I.T. in education can be widely implemented and benefit our students.

The process of the I.T. Development of the scxhool (2006-2019):


 

2017-2019, the whole school WIFI infrastructure work was completed. Afterward, school will focusing on e-learning curriclum and e-administrative as a smart campus.

Besides, the implementation of the electronic fee schemes and the home-school mobile app are not only reduced teachers' non-teaching work but also can increasing the efficiency of school administration. From the second Term of year 17/18, our school adopts the eClass e-attendence system for taking student attendence. Students have to tap the registered smart cards at the card readers at the school main entrance, for recording their time of arrival.

For the achieve of smart school goal, we attaches great importance to the development of e-learning, teachers and students would enhance classroom interaction and learning efficiency through eClass Power Lesson 2.0. In addition, the school will keep updating and enriching our school-base computer core curriculums.  Students will have an opportunety to learn robotic and Coding Education at all levels. Such as Scratch 2.0, App Inventor, BBC Micro:Bit and M-Bot, etc.

2014-2016, the school obtained funding from EDB to build up a high speed and stability WIFI network in our school campus. This scheme is to unleash the learning power of all our students to learn to learn and to excel through realising the potential of IT in enhancing interactive learning and teaching experiences. We aim to strengthen students’ problem-solving, collaboration and computational thinking competency, enhance their creativity and innovation, and even entrepreneurship, as well as to nurture the students to become ethical users of IT for pursuing life-long learning and whole-person development, through leveraging technology and the capacity of IT in IT-rich school environments, with schools’ professional leadership and capacity, as well as the support from community partnerships. We will sustain the development of ITE through synergizing resources and professional support to enhance teachers’ repertoire and their effectiveness of learning and teaching.

2010-2011, the school obtained funding from the QEF to develop a school based e-learning program for English called "Reading towards Writing". Such program can help to promote interaction of students and it can also help to strengthen the students' abilities in reading and writing.

2009-2010, the school successful applied the funding from QEF and establioshed the Distance Learning Classroom for Teaching and Learning. It provides a brand new learning environment for students and teachers that students' learning interest can be promoted. On the other hand, the school also developed OSTUBE Media Server to reinforce the school TV broadcasting on internet.

Through the Distance Learning Project, we established educational relation with the primary school in Mainland China. It helps to broaden the views of our students and the education quality can be promoted.

 

2008-2009,The school established the E-Learning room. At present, we have 3 different tupes of computer rooms. The E-Learning Room equipped electronic whiteboard and tablet PCs, teachers can use the e-material to conduct interactive learning. Students' learning interest and the learning efficacy can also be enhanced. The school also worked with some publishers and I.T. companies to develop interactive learning materials. At the same time, the Central West District Board sponsored us to develop a 360-degree Central West Heritage simulation trip for matching our school based General studies' curriculum. On the other hand, the school also obtained the funding from QEF to equip a set of school e-management system to deal with the school asdministration. Such  practice can help to reduce the workload of the teachers so that they can concentrate in teaching.

2007-2008, the school webpage overhauled and the online teaching resource bank can be fully used. The new webpage can provide more updated infromation of the school for our teachers, students, parents and even the public. The internet bandwidth upgraded from 1.5MB to 25MB at the same time. It shortens the time for teachers and students in searching information. It also facilitates the public to browse the school website effectively. We also equipped several servers to store over rillionth information for people to browse.

2006-2007, the school campus equipped a wireless internet network. Students can learn and interact outside the classroom by the computers. In addition, all the classrooms and special rooms equipped LCD projectors for teaching and learning. At the same time, the school adopted the learning platform in the intranet to faciilitate the efficiency in learning. Besides, for providing space for teachers and students to apply I.T. in teaching and learning, we applied funding from the QEF (Quality Education Fund) and held fund raising activities in school as well. We raised about $130,000 to set up an E-Learning Room. The school now has better equipments to implement cross media learning and the teaching and learning cna be promoted.
