We adopted the Co-operative Learning Model to be one of our teaching strategy. Teachers design group-based activities for students. Through the activities, students can show their ablilties according to their learning task, to contribute their strength for their own groups and strive for their common success. According to Johnson & Johnson(Johnson & Johnson, 1999):

  • Cooperative learning is termed as a learning way in which the students learn in groups.
  • Members help each other through the learning to enhance learning efficiency
  • Including both cognitive and affectiv.

The ideas of Co-operative Learning in our school:

  Personal Responsibilities

Each group member's efforts are required and indispensable for group success. Each group member has a unique contribution to make to the joint effort because of his or her resources and/or role and task responsibilities.

Positive Interdependence

In accordance with the assigned role of each member (Group Leader, Envoy, Secretary, Controller), they are interdependence. The learning goal can be achieved through mutual goals and division of labor. Finally, the learning results.can be shared.

Cooperation Skills

Before the activities, teachers should give guidance about the skills in cooperative learning. Meanwhile, teachers should also help students to build up mutual understanding, trust and acceptance. They should also observe students performance during the activities. Appreciative Cards (Patience to Listen, Willing to Help Others, Good control of the Volume, Responsible)etc. will be given to those students with outstanding performance. It aims to encourage students involve into group discussions actively.
